Vijayaraj, popularly known as Vijayakanth born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India on August 25, 1952, is a popular Tamil film actor and politician. His ancestry being settled in Andhra Pradesh, his family later moved to Tamil Nadu before his birth. He is well known for his patriotism and philanthropy. He is the founder of DMDK and the MLA of Vridachalam.
Vijayakanth has given Blockbuster hits like Amman Koil Kizhakkaley,Vaidegi Kathirundal,Thavasi, Chinna Gounder, Vallarasu, Vaanaththaepole , Kannupada Pokuthayya and Ramana. He was considered as the third major star in Tamil films after Kamal Haasan and Rajni Kanth in Eighties and Earlier Nineties
His next venture directed by Vikraman co starring Meera Jasmine has already became a surebet for distributors. Vijayakanth is also acting in a film called Engal Aasan now
